Breaking

He was now at his breaking point. He had been holding things in to help him hold it all together for so long that now, every little thing would tip him over the edge. He was so far gone at this point that he really didn’t know how to get back.

Recent events had made it clear to him that they had never truly respected him, and probably never had any intention of doing so. It hurt actually, especially seeing as he had so much respect for them. Or at least he did. Now he was doing what he had to do to get by. But he couldn’t overlook the fact that it hurt and how much it hurt. His character always had him being too nice and too kind, causing him to always get burnt.

He didn’t just get burnt this time though, it was much worse. Not to mention his unhelpful trait of keeping it all to himself and him breaking more and more inside. If this is what heartbreak felt like, it was truly a different kind of pain. Sadly, he didn’t know how to talk to others. He had never been given the freedom to.

There was that one person who he had trusted enough to even open up a little; a little bit more than he would with anyone else. She was his strength, his comfort and his peace. Well she had been. That relationship was now basically non-existent. It would now take a lot for him to get there with someone else, causing him to now be back at square 1; keeping it all in and trusting only himself.

A horrible trait. Some would probably even say unhealthy. But how would he know any better, when before she came, he hadn’t known any better? Why did she come? To add more salt to the wound? Because knowing that she was now gone for good was only adding more pain onto what was already there. He hadn’t gone looking for her, she found him and against his better judgement, he had entertained it. She came into his life so unexpectedly and left the exact same way.

But right now, she wasn’t even the main problem, he had bigger fish to fry. He just didn’t know how.
