Time

I feel like my life is running away from me sometimes. Everything just feels like it’s happening to fast.

Just the other day I was moving into halls, ready to start university. Now I’m half way through my second year dreading the assignments that January have to offer me.

Time almost feels like it sped up. The days never felt like they were going as quickly before. I sure didn’t feel like my youth was trying to escape me, but now I almost feel like I’m being forced into adulthood rather than it gradually happening. And in terms of dating and relationships? Ha! If I want to be married with at least 2 kids by 30, I should definitely be in a relationship by now. But instead I’m trying to get a good degree by 21. To be honest with the course I’m studying, I won’t even be finished by 21. That will just be the beginning. The point being, there’s just not enough time to fit everything in.

What if we could slow down time, or actually go back in time? I for one would be grateful. I would be able to relive some of my favourite moments, or just simply give myself enough time to do what I want. I would make sure that I thoroughly enjoyed each day, and make the most of all my opportunities. Time would never make me feel like I’m running out of it, I would definitely make sure that the last few years of my teens were properly enjoyed. I would make sure that I’m ready to step into the big world of being an adult.

But we can’t that just simply isn’t how life works. Life does it’s own thing and depending on what you believe in, this is just how it’s meant to be. So instead we have to make the most of what we have, in the time that we have. So many people died this year. So many people didn’t make it to be able to see another Christmas or even a New Year. It just makes you think that you really have to be thankful for the fact that you keep on waking up every morning, with good health. So many people are not able to do the same.

So as we embark on yet another new year, may this be a year filled with many blessings for everyone. May this be the year that you really go hard and live life to the fullest. Embark on new projects. Push yourself in your job or in your studies. Cross off things off your bucket list (if you have one). Or just simply conquer your fears. May 2017 be your year. Let’s make the most of time and not let time make the most of us, because as the saying goes; “we ain’t getting any younger”.

Happy New Year!
